The ROLBAS is a remote operable load break switch conforming to highest requirements for personal safety. The application is remote (and local as option) disconnect of 3- or 1- phase total electric supply after a meter. Any AMI (AMR) system can control and monitor the ROLBAS if the logic and simple interface is implemented. It can be applied for all end customers having main fuse 16- 80 A. It has a high rated breaking capacity to also break inductive loads including consideration of inrush current for motors. This allow the utility to use the same load breaker for all meter endpoints up to 80 A

It is inserted into the outgoing terminations of meter and the connection of wires are identical to wire connection to meters.

The functional and safety features fulfil the needs to remotely operate and monitor the electric supply to houses/apartments with good technical margins of performance and safety. Therefore remote reconnect shall not be possible and the insulation and mechanically safe latched position together make it impossible to find any event that could reenergise the electricity in a house or a building without manual active charge of a reconnect pushbutton with fool proof simplicity.

Functional features:

Remote load break/disconnect: This is achieved by closing a 230V to neutral circuit. A solenoid is the actuator.

Disabling. This is  always achieved as a consequence of load break manoeuvre. Load break and disabling is performed with only one control command. The disabling position is mechanically locked and stays in that position until next control command is sent.

Enabling. This is achieved by closing the same 230 to neutral circuit. The enabled position stays until a new control demand is sent. This enables the end user to push a button and reconnect the electric service.

Non blocking function.  It is not possible to prevent the load break operation by pushing, bending or pulling the button. The opening of the main contacts will always be independent operation and is immune to interference.

Manual reconnect :The reconnect is made manually by pushing a green button. The reconnect contact movement will be totally independent of the way the button is pushed.

Lockable: The OFF position can be secured by a padlock to meet the highest demands on personal safety when performing electrical work after the disconnect point in the electric system.

Status monitoring: The position disabled OR enabled is monitored with a reed relay. The output can either be fed by 230V cross the reed relay OR  any other external voltage AC/DC below 230V. If no voltage is supplied from the AMR terminal, then 230 V is provided from the ROLBAS  cross the reed relay.

Perpendicular terminal clamps: For single phase breaker the terminal clamps are perpendicular to reduce the total length. Wire is inserted sideways

Option: Local disconnect and reconnect for normal use by end customer, can be provided as option. This would be a red button that trips the ROLBAS and the reconnect can be done. All this is independent of AMI/AMR system as long as the ROLBAS is in enabled position controlled by the AMR/AMI system.

Other features:

The enclosure can be provided to fit different meters both single and 3-phase.

The operation of the solenoid from a relay (open/closed) is protected by a varistor to limit any overvoltages due to possibly high di/dt

The old cabling can normally be used since the distance between meter terminal block and the ROLBAS terminal block is short. If cables still are too short an extender can be  used.

The extender  HMP-E-701is an auxiliary product that can be fitted under the Rolbas, which has the purpose of providing terminal blocks to the meter incoming wires.

The incoming wires to the meter can be inserted either before or after the ROLBAS is inserted.
